Oakland Athletics promote LHP Dillon Overton from their minor league system

Matthew Schmidt reports the news on Thursday the Oakland Athletics have called from their AAA minor league team the Nashville Sounds left handed starting pitcher Dillon Overton. Overton pitched in five games for the Athletics as their starting pitcher during the 2016 Major League Baseball season with a record of one win and three losses with an earned run average of 10.97 which was a ticket back to the Sounds on August 6, 2016. Overton has pitched in 21 games for the Sounds with one relief appearance with a pitching record of 13 wins and five losses with an earned run average of 3.29 during the 2016 baseball season. Since the Athletics are not in the running to make a playoff run, they have decided to bring up their rookie left handed pitcher to work in a long relief role for the rest of the 2016 baseball season.
