Ten years ago, I was at Ciudad de Mexico on this very same day. The city was full of garlands, flags and lights. It was a wonder to behold.
Today Mexico commemorates El Grito de Hidalgo, the beginning of the country´s independence from the Spanish rule.
Many of the latin american countries star their independence around these days. The patriots started the fight for independence because Spain was under the rule of Napoleon´s brother.
Chile´s national holiday is in 2 more days. National songs are on the air and flags ar all around.
