Day 10 Proverbs 3:27-35 Proverbs 3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 28 Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. 29 Devise not evil against thy neighbor, seeing he dwells securely by thee. 30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. 31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous. 33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesses the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorns the scorners: but he gives grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. What is the motto today? Isn’t minding our own business and not get involved in anything that could bring attention to us from authorities. We close our curtains, we focus our attention on what is directly in front of us while driving, and we hurry past anyone who might need something from us. Solomon told his son not to withhold anything from someone in need if he had it to give. He told him not to give excuses but to do it right then. God looks down on those who don’t look for trouble, and are helpful with favor. He also sees the trouble makers and scorns them. Then Solomon told his son the wise inherit glory, but God brings shame on fools. As Christians, we need to get back to the basics. Being kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another as Christ Jesus forgave us. We are to be the Good Samaritans and help our fellow man and not pass them by on the other side of the road. We are to love God and our neighbor as ourselves. When we do that, God will show favor to us as well and we will see God’s blessings on our lives. Are you ready to get back to the basics? Let’s pray: Father, help me be helpful to my neighbor. Help me lend a hand when it is in my power to do so. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 16 September 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I say Amen to your prayer and renew my resolve to get to the basics. However for today I choose - Envy not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
