#2 in my Favorite German Bands series might surprise that they aren't #1, but there is one German band that I actually listen to more. Therefore, the legendary Scorpions are in the #2 spot. How legendary is this band? I borrowed heavily from Wikipedia for this one, but check out these facts: Led by rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker, Scorpions formed in 1965 and are still going strong. That's over 50 years! They have achieved sales of 100 million units worldwide. 100 million units. That's a career a band would sell their souls for! Having released 18 studio albums, 27 compilations and a whopping 74 singles, the Scorpions have, worldwide, 200 x Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum records. 200. They have won three World Music Awards and have a Permanent Exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In their heyday, the 1980's, only Van Halen kept the Scorpions from headlining heavy metal day at the US Festival. I got to see the band on a stopover warmup show for that festival, for only ten bucks. It was ten of the best dollars I've ever spent, and not because I spent some time making out with a girl I met. It was because they are a great live band. Sure, the band has an exhibit there, but how are these guys not actually in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

I would call the Scorps a borderline HOF band but given the inclusion of Cheap Trick. I think there is bias against heavy metal from the 80s.

You're welcome. I figured I'd go with a power ballad rather than some of their heavy metal.

I always want to spell it with a 'K' instead of a 'C'
