Favorite Alcohol Songs #9 - "Whiskey in the Jar"

An idea I've stolen from @norcal from Bubblews, my Favorite Alcohol Songs series, see's Thin Lizzy's version of "Whiskey in the Jar" at #9. Led by the late Phil Lynott (vocals/bass,) Thin Lizzy is (the band still tours without him) an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1969. The band is best known for their popular classic rock songs "The Boys are Back in Town" and "Jailbreak." Their version of the traditional Irish ballad "Whiskey in the Jar," however, was their biggest UK hit, landing at #6, and #1 in Ireland. I see no evidence of any US chart action for their take on the tune. "Whiskey in the Jar" has been done by, notably, The Grateful Dead, and Metallica (whose version I have a special place in my heart thanks to it being played before Colorado Avalanche games as the teams warm up.) It's Thin Lizzy's version that is the definitive one, however, and the one I listen to the most. R.I.P., Phil.

@SerenityEngel - He was definitely very talented. Too bad he never really got the recognition he deserved.

@teamfreak16 I've met one other person who saw Rory. A guy I used to work with saw Rory with Taste at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival. I was very jealous. I love the G Man.

Love that song and all those versions. Even Mettalica's, really I do not hate Metallica, but about as opposite as punk rock you can get. Anyway this is a Thin Lizzy song and a great one.
