Must it be only apple?? How about any other fruits? Apple is not grown in my country, so we have to import it. Therefore, its price is expensive. What do you think? Can an apple be replaced with other kinds of local fruits?

I seem to recall reading that the saying was actually a marketing ploy intended to sell more apples.

The saying originated in countries where apples are common and cheap. You can easily get the same benefits from fresh fruit which is readily available and cheap in your country. The main benefits of apples are that they contain Vitamin C, types of sugar which is readily assimilable and fibre. All of these are good for the health and all can be found in other fruits as well.

Yes, just like you apples are not indigenous in our country too , so we import them and they can be expensive specially those big Fuji apples . I like eating Fuji apple. I believe it can keep the doctors away indeed if we eat an apple everyday .

@Ayuriny Because it needs to know the real meaning of it. Since it is not literally said.

No, it can be guava. Apples sell at exorbitant prices so we can very well have guavas or gooseberries or any local fruit...maynot have the same properties as apples but fruit is good.

Guava? It's easy to find such fruit in my place! Thus, no more need to buy the expensive apples.
