I saw this as I was walking back toward my car. I thought its wings looked fantastic against the background and grabbed the photo at just the right time.

My youngest daughter was chasing a couple of them with her net in our back yard yesterday (she's strictly catch and release). She couldn't catch them though.

Beautiful! We don't see many Monarchs around here... mostly smaller species, with the occasional Western Swallowtail that flutters by. That's probably one of the things I miss most about being in Kansas... they were all over the place, especially at the arboretum and botanical gardens we would go to in Overland Park.
