We're getting there. The end is nigh. #2 in my Favorite Sitcom Characters is none other than The Big Bang Theory's breakout character, Doctor Sheldon Cooper. Sheldon Cooper is a genius theoretical physicist working in the science department at Caltech University. He has an eidetic memory, is smarter than his friends (and constantly reminds them,) and is quirky as it gets. He also has zero social skills, does not understand sarcasm, is afraid of birds, and demonstrates constant obsessive behavior, such as knocking on doors three times, calling out whom he's knocking for each time. Jim Parsons is brilliant in the role, convincingly enough that he's actually believable as a scientist. He has won numerous awards for his portrayal of Sheldon, including four Emmy Awards. The Big Bang Theory has thus far, a nine year run from 2007 to present, and, according to Wikipedia, has been renewed for three more seasons. Despite the fact that the show is not about Sheldon, he seems to be the show's most popular character. And rightly so. He's hilarious!

@teamfreak16 I can't either. There are certain actors who I believe were made to play certain parts and no other could come close. :-)

Can you even imagine anyone other than Jim Parsons playing Sheldon? He's so good, I can't.

I have a relative like that: sharp as a tack but wouldn't know to come in out of the rain unless she read it in a book. Sheldon is the poster child for the notion that you can be too "educated."

Sheldon is pretty clueless when it comes to anything that doesn't have anything to do with science, science fiction, or comic books.
