I haven't counted, but it's a safe bet to say that nobody in country music has been mentioned in other people's songs more than Hank Williams. There's a simple reason for that: Hank was, and remains, the gold standard in country music. Today people who sing "country music" and people who listen to it couldn't tell Hank Williams from Hank Hill, nor do they want to...but that's their loss. Here's another great song about Hank. #8: Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life - Moe Bandy Yeah, I like me some Moe Bandy. Bandy, a former rodeo bronco buster (his second big hit was called "Bandy the Rodeo Clown," about being on the rodeo circuit), has been around for over 40 years. He's done some terrific songs, including "Yesterday Once More" (not the same song that the Carpenters had a hit with!), about older country singers. Here he sings about all-too-personally relating to some of Hank's song ("You wrote 'Your Cheatin' Heart' about a gal like my first ex-wife"). It's a great country song about a great country singer. That's great. And a Hank Hill reference!
