It has arrived!! Hooray Hooray! Not only did the Mail delivering Camel arrived but plenty of wonderful goodies inside the parcel. We all know who believes that the snail mail to South Africa is most surely on the back of a slow camel . . . AKA @Asylum, but one can rest assure that the mail always arrives on the reliable Mail Camel. Since this was a small parcel, I had to wait until this morning for the post office to open so that I could collect. The postmistress (who is a dear old friend of mine) was delighted with the story regarding the Large Camel sticker which was on the front side of the parcel together with a lovely stamp of the Queen. I am sure that the story will be told throughout the post offices over the course of the next few weeks - something to brighten up their days of mail after mail after mail! Good Morning to everyone. Thanks Barry for the Goodies. I shall feature them later.

So have you started a postcard wall or a book to display them all?

@inlemay It heightens the sense of expectation when you have to go and collect a parcel from the post office rather than it arriving at your door.

@xFiacre that is such a wonderful memory you have just shared. Sending food has long since stopped.

@Inlemay We used to get parcels when we lived in the remotest part on Malawi in the 60s. They took months to reach us from Ireland but my grandmother still insisted on sending fresh food!

I think I have missed a post. I thought for a moment there was a real camel delivering the post. Then my next question was, "Do they have camels in South Africa?" Surely it should be elephants or even a giraffe?

They need the camels to take the mail across the Sahara from the North.

That poor old lady must be wondering what kind of weird people you are getting mail from. Of course the British stamp will probably explain quite a lot to her. Since I had cause to use an envelope I could not resist sending it by Camel Mail. I hope that contents are of some value to you.
