Favorite Alcohol Songs #5 - "Six Pack"

We're at the midpoint in my (inspired by @norcal) Favorite Alcohol Songs series, and #5 belongs to punk legends Black Flag and their 1981 song "Six Pack." Led by guitarist (and only constant member) Greg Ginn, Black Flag formed in Hermosa Beach, California. The band has undergone multiple lineup changes over the years, and has boasted punk legends Keith Morris, Henry Rollins, Dez Cadena, Chuck Biscuits, and Kira Roessler as members. "Six Pack" could originally be found, pre-compilations, on their 1981album, Damaged, and on that year's Six Pack EP. It was not released as a single (according to Wikipedia, Black Flag has released just one single in the band's history,) yet it's still a fan favorite all these years later. The EP itself did make it to #16 on the UK Indie chart, however. "Six Pack" is a classic. Not in the same way that Frank Sinatra's version of "Drinking Again" is a classic, but in punk circles, "Six Pack" is legend. It's definitely one of my all-time favorite tunes. In fact, I did this entire alcohol series just so I could use the song. (Just kidding.)

I understand. Unless you like punk rock, odds are that you wouldn't have.

Great bass intro. You need to play this and "A Six Pack to Go" by Hank Thompson back to back. (No, don't try that at home, kids!)

It would work on the jukebox at one of my favorite bars in downtown Colorado Springs.

Black Flag! A legendary local band. Henry Rollins is still much on the LA scene.

Have you ever watched his cable show? Forgot what channel, but it's pretty interesting.

If you did the whole series around this song, I'd understand it. Love it

It would be #1 in that case. Man, I love Black Flag!
