They took away the local hospital...

I got a letter from my insurance company, stating that any services other than for an extreme emergency, will no longer be covered at the Baptist Beaches Hospital, that is located at the beach, just a few minutes away.
I now have to go to Memorial Hospital, which depending upon traffic...is about a 30-45 minute drive. Or downtown, which is a longer drive.
Don't get me wrong... I like Memorial. That is where I had my surgery done. But for smaller procedures, I prefer to go to the one closest to me.
This is where I got all my blood work and tests done. They have already closed the local clinics in the area, so the hospital was the only place left to go. I mean...they are making it very hard for patients to get their needs met.
I need to find out if this is a "Medicaid" issue across the board, or just my insurance company.
If it is not Medicaid, then when the window opens again, for the option to keep my current insurance provider, or opt for another one, I think I am going to switch.
This is ridiculous...

That is ridiculous. You shouldn't be expected to travel such a distance if you have a hospital within minutes of your home. That does not make any sense at all.

I am not old enought to get medicare yet so not sure how hard it will be. We got the cheapest insurance we could find and now they are leaving the end of December so we have to get ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY.

Medicaid is different from Medicare. I am disabled, so I get Medicaid. Once I am old enough, then they will switch it to Medicare.

I hope it's not medicaid, so you can switch here in a bit

Definitely they must be having some issues otherwise the insurance company will not do like that. What is your idea on Obama Care.? Is it working nicely?

I think Obama Care sucks!!! I have two friends who are paying $2,000 a month for insurances, with a $3,500 deductible. I am glad I am on medicaid, or I would be in bad luck.

I have no idea. That is just what the letter said.
