Julia Child Verses Julie & Julia

Out of all the years that I have been cooking, I never once looked inside Julia Child's cookbook: Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
I just checked it out in the library. I am allowed three renewals, unless someone puts a hold on it. The libraries have more than one copy, so hopefully this won't happen.
I will hopefully have 9 weeks to look through the book, and try a few recipes (maybe write down the ones I try; until I can one day find a book, that I can afford to purchase. They are $40 brand new.
I also checked out the book: Julie & Julia, that Julie Powell wrote. I've read mixed reviews on this book, so I am interested to see how close it is to the movie. And what other things happened, that the movie never touched on.

I loved both the movie and the book! I have never looked through the cookbook by Julia Powell but just from watching the movie and reading the book I am sure the recipes would be tough for me. I am a vegetarian and most recipes were meat. Since this is an old post I stumbled on I wonder how you made out with all this. Did you try a few recipes?

No... A lot of drama prevented me from doing it. Maybe in the future sometime.

hey it's a place to start, and since it is there you can always sit and write a new recipee down each trip, even if you cant check it out again later

Well... If I can't check it out again later, I could not do that...because someone else would have it, or it would be at another library too far away. I had to request to have it sent to the library close to me.

I will. Right now what I am seeing is a little confusing, but I plan on giving updates about both books.
