Six down, four to go. #4 in my Favorite Alcohol Songs series belongs to Dublin, Ireland's My Bloody Valentine and their single "Strawberry Wine." Led by guitarist/vocalist Kevin Shields, My Bloody Valentine formed in 1983. In addition to Shields, their longtime lineup has been vocalist/guitarist Bilinda Butcher, bassist Debbie Googe, and drummer Colm O' Ciosoig. The band is a pioneer in the shoegazer movement, and their album Loveless is widely considered one of the best albums of the 1990's. "Strawberry Wine" was released in 1987 as a stand-alone single (2500 copies were pressed, according to Wikipedia,) before it's inclusion on a compilation album called Ecstasy and Wine. The single reached #13 on the UK Indie Singles chart. Shoegazer bands are usually also classified as dream-pop, and it's a fitting description. "Strawberry Wine"is less dream-pop, leaning into jangle-pop territory, with some lovely vocal harmony from Shields and Butcher. I have a great love of shoegazer bands, and, as far as I'm concerned, My Bloody Valentine is the best of the lot. It goes without saying, then, that "Strawberry Wine" would rank fairly high in this series. Top 5 seems about right.
A fantastic early MBV song, which i thought is just got to be heard by everyone! Has a nice 60s jangly feel to it! Its from the Ecstasy and Wine LP which can...

No, but I did have to listen to her song during a recent music war. I prefer this one 10 times out of 10.

@teamfreak16 -- yeah, me too. I'm not too impressed with many commercially successful "country" female singers from the 90s...because most of them weren't country (cough-cough Shania).

Best shoegazer band on the planet! But also not exactly a household name.
