Being Stupid in the Garden Could Have Killed Me

I already told you about having Jimson Weed in the garden. I am slowly getting rid of it, but it isn't scaring me anymore. I know what it looks like and I know what it can do. Well, I just found another "killer plant" I was pulling out the dead tomato plants and found a plant that seems to have been placed along side of them. The first thing that I thought of was it was a plant that has been used to keep insects from attacking the tomatoes. Well, from what I can tell, it's Poison Hemlock. I pulled some out using gloves, but I then took the gloves off and carried a piece into the house to look it up on the computer. Apparently, I shouldn't have touched it at all. Yes, that is what killed Socrates! It's a good thing that I washed my hands before sitting down to lunch... so far so good lol. But it did teach me a very good lesson. NEVER EVER touch something with bare hands if you don't know what it is and don't eat anything either. Yeah, we did that too. We were lucky. It was a wild plum, but it might not have been. I don't like using Round Up but in this case, I might have to!

I have to admit that I am not much of a gardener and other than knowing that rhubarb leaves are poison I don't know any killer plants.
