Do You Eat a Lot of Nuts?

I visited my herbalist this week and she told me about the benefits of eating nuts. She gave me this print-out that she gives to a lot of her clients and I thought that I would share some of the information with you.
October is the month that fresh-harvested nuts usually hit the markets and grocery stores. Nuts, whether you purchase them in the shell or in a can, are full of disease-fighting nutrients and lots of fiber.
For instance, WALNUTS contain alpha-linolenic acid and just six walnut halves per day can supply your recommended daily dose. The print-out says this: “This plant-based form of omega-3 fatty acids may cut your risk of diabetes, says a study in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.” That is certainly good to know.
Almonds and Pecans supply Vitamin E, an antioxidant that boosts the immune system. Pecans can reduce the inflammation in arteries that leads to cardiovascular diseases. Also, good to know.
And Brazil Nuts, one of my favorites, provide Selenium, which, according to the print-out, “can prevent cell damage from free radicals and keep your immune system strong.” It also said you “only have to eat ONE Brazil nut to meet your daily need.”
I just put “NUTS” on my grocery list for tomorrow.

I don't eat a lot of nuts because I knew they were high in calories. I didn't realize all the benefits of them. Thanks you for posting this. I am going to pick some up when I am out shopping on the weekend.

I eat a lot of nuts and I've recently lost weight. Nuts have what are called "good" fats. It's not like eating other high-calorie or fatty foods.

I like eating nuts, even though they tend to be high in calories, they are very nutritious. I love walnuts and cashews. I also like pecans and almonds, though almonds would not be my first pick.

Almonds are my least favorite also. Not because of the taste. They taste good, but they are harder to chew.

I love Cashews too. Any kind of nut would be a healthy choice, I think.. Instead of all the other unhealthy snacks that people eat every day.

I love nuts. I eat almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios and cashews. I love cashews. I like to get the nut mixes because I can eat a variety because they are so good for your health. My grandma used to put walnuts in her cookies. She had a walnut tree in her backyard so she would collect them. They were delicious too.

Yes, I put walnuts in cakes and cookies and brownies and pumpkin bread and banana bread and anything else. I also add them to my oatmeal. I like cashews and pistachios also.
