Jeffrey Flanagan reports the news on Thursday the Kansas City Royals have release their right handed relief pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.
Wang had pitched 38 games in relief for the defending World Series champions during the 2016 Major League Baseball season with a record of six wins and no losses with an earned run average of 4.22 in 53.1 innings pitched.
Wang had been designated for assignment by the Royals on September 17, 2016. Since there was no team in the Major Leagues that wanted his services, the Royals decided to release him on Thursday.
Royals left handed relief pitcher Jason Vargas replaced Wang on the Royals on their 40 man roster on September 17.
Wang had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on August 31, 2016 with biceps tendinitis.
Wang started his career in the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees in 2005. Wang has pitched for the Washington Nationals and the Toronto Blue Jays before he signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals before the start of the 2016 baseball season.
Due to his age of 36 years of age, it remains to be seen if any team in the Major Leagues will hire him before the start of the 2017 Major League Baseball season.

Wang will face a difficult time finding a new employer next season.
