What is the best gift that we can give when we visit someone's house for the first time.. flowers or chocolate? what you think is the best?

I think it should be food which all of your can partake of while you converse . That way , the owners won't fuzz in preparing something to let the guests eat .

@Vakshu there are hell lot of options to gift someone, I feel the individual preference differs. For a kid, generically it should be chocolates, games but for ladies I think Jewellery makes the best choice.

I think if they are near ones or relatives and if you have budget of Rs 200-500, you may gift a silver coin or something like that.
