The answer is simple....

People, mainly newbies, ask such things as: . How do I get more comments? . How do I get people to participate in my discussion? . What kinds of topics get more attention? There are many ways the same thing is asked but you know that. Now for the answer, or at least one answer. There are many topics that draw interest and to prove that point a few days ago I started a discussion called, "Why do Christians have to announce that fact?". I thought it would be interesting and I also knew I would receive all kinds of responses (Negative and Positive) - which I did. You do have to be prepared for negative and positive comments. That discussion proved that one topic that will draw attention is Religion/Faith. I normally don't write about religion/politics/kids - but I had been wanting to ask why Christians do that, so I bit the bullet and went for it. It seems I wasn't the only one that wanted an answer. Many of us loved that post because, I suppose, we had something to say about it. Maybepart of the thing is to discover what others want to talk about. Although that is VERY hard.

I don't have many rules regarding what subjects I will or will not write about, but I generally try to stay sway from religion and politics. Those two subjects are such divisive topics, and I enjoy all the positive relationships I've built up on this site, so I don't want to ruin any friendships over such divisive topics. But I agree with you, they are definitely topics that will elicit quite a bit of response!

There are times I bite my tongue (most times) and times I let it all hang out. I don't see that I ruined any friendships over it and if I did then they didn't really like me anyway. I may not comment on every post I read, but I do read many and I keep up with people and what's going on in their lives.

@AbbyGreenhill Well then...I say "Go Trump!" Haha, just kidding! I say "Go Hillary!" No, just kidding there too! I don't like either one of them! There, that's all I'm going to say about politics! LOL

I response to those topics that share the same belief with me. Questioning other religious beliefs sometimes lead to arguments so I just let them on their belief and respect them. I know I might get many responses too if I speak about religions but I don't want it my thread to be a battleground of beliefs on what is the best religion in this world. I think what matters is really not the religion but our relationship with our Creator.

This was a simple post, not a war against any religion. I was trying to get an answer and I think I got some that make sense.

I also avoid it.Religion is not my thing any more.I do not bother with those type of people. The one that aggravate is how much money can I make here. The other like you said comments, discussion, etc. They also can bite the bullet

I agree about those asking how to make money - if they need money that badly they are in the wrong place.

I am glad that you bit the bullet so to speak and asked that question. I enjoyed reading the comments and seeing what others had to say on the topic. Negative and positive responses are all a part of a good discussion! You handled it well. Have a great day!

I hate starting discussions on religion and politics.. Controversial topics get a lot of comments.. But I am here for fun .. I like to have some positive interaction with people.

That's why online we have an advantage to in-person - we can just go away - but in person we have to walk away LOL.

I think the trick is to find a topic that everyone has an opinion about. I notice that the post I had the most comments on was about cakes when I asked the question - "what's your favourite cake?" It seems everyone has an opinion on cakes. Whereas other things I suppose are only going to be of interest to a minority, even if I might find them interesting.
