Ian Rapoport reports the news on Friday the Minnesota Vikings will not have the services of their top running back Adrian Peterson for the remainder of the 2016 football season since he has been placed on the injured reserved list. Peterson suffered a torn in his meniscus on his knee during the Vikings Week two win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday evening in Minneapolis Minnesota. Peterson had surgery on Thursday on his injured knee which will take at least 3-4 months for him to fully recover and resume his football activities. The earliest time Peterson would be eligible to return would be in Week 11 of the 2016 football season but the Vikings do not have any plans to reactive him at that time. Matt Asiata and Jeremy McKinnon will take over Peterson's role as the running back of the Vikings for the remainder of the 2016 football season.

Haven't yet heard from my Vikings fan friend yet. I'm sure he's none too happy. What a blow.
