What a Terrible Day for Sports

This morning the sports world woke to the sad news that José Fernández, the ace of the Miami Marlins pitching staff, was killed along with two friends in a boating accident in the wee hours of the morning.
No, I don't know what a guy who was supposed to pitch in the afternoon was doing out on a boat speeding (the Coast Guard said speed was definitely a factor) around in the dark at 3:30 in the morning. That's not really all that important. What is important that a young superstar and a major hero to the Cuban-American community has tragically lost his life at the way-too-young young age of 24.
Then, during the Cubs game the breaking news crawled on the screen that perhaps the greatest golf legend of all time, Arnold Palmer, has passed away at the age of 87. Arnie, "the king," was one of the greatest the game has ever known. He was so popular that he even had a drink named after him: the "Arnold Palmer" is a non-alcoholic drink that's 50% tea, 50% lemonade.
What a terrible day for the sports world.

Indeed, it was a sad day for sports.
Jose Fernandez recently posted a photo of his pregnant wife with a caption saying how he is looking forward to being a father.
Arnie's contributions, not just to the sport of golf, will always be remembered.

The Marlins had moved back Fermandez' start to Monday so that's why he was fishing. Still, he should have been such activities during the off season though it could have happened at any time.

I just heard about Arnold Palmer a few minutes ago. Sad in both cases.
