A Walking Dictionary

I have a classmate during my high school days who claims to be a "walking dictionary." Why did he claim this?" According to him, he memorizes the English words from a book dictionary. I think there is nothing wrong in memorizing the English words. But the proper usages of them are the most important thing. I must say that he was not that good in grammar. But then, he keeps bragging himself as a "walking dictionary." "Are you a walking dictionary?"

In my schooldays I used to memorize English words but later I understood their proper usage was more important.

I would agree on this. There is no worth of memorizing words. It should be applied.

Same did I try tho but I believe being good with structure is what defines your knowledge/ abilities not the bulky words that you could use

@Shavkat exactly you should let your memory link with your sentences to help with better understanding and only that could help with better results

If he is a walking dictionary, he should know all the words, correct spelling, meaning, synonyms, antonyms, and everything. I think he is a genius if he knows all of it...

Why does he have to brag about being that , when he cannot be good in grammar ? Yaiks ! Besides , you are right . Usage of the English words is important They maybe synonyms but they require that you use them appropriately given the premise of the sentence .

@SIMPLYD I didn't insist to persuade him. I let his egoistic behavior eats him up.
