Eggs are a tasty, cheap protein but for some reason I hate frying them in a pan, which I find to be messy and hard to cook to perfection. Enter the "Eggtastic". While these devices sell for around $10 new I believe, I got mine for $3 at a garage sale. I won't go into details about the previous owner's stuck on eggs that I had to clean out of it... that part was concealed by their clever placement of the instructional material... however it was a bargain and something I find that I use a lot. One needs only to crack to egg or eggs into the "Eggtastic" *after spraying the inside with non-stick cooking spray* and adding whatever seasoning or veggies or cheese you like, and stirring. I find that in my microwave it takes 1 minute to a cooked egg. The egg comes out nice and cleanly in a fun round shape, perfect if you're making breakfast sandwich.
Is it worth it?
Yes and no. To me yes. I like it's fun egg appearance and find I use more eggs this way. Truth be told - you may do the same thing, with a coffee mug too. I happen to prefer this little cooking dish , personally. It has been totally worth the $3, but if I had to pay more I would re-think it.

I cook eggs all the time, either on a griddle or in a frying pan. Never seen a gadget before like the one you described! I'll have to keep my eye out for one!

I think it's one of those "as seen on tv" items. (Actually you can do the same with a greased coffee mug) -- let me know how you like it if you try it

@FayeHazel Hmmm...I definitely have plenty of coffee mugs! So maybe I'll give it a try this weekend when I have time to actually cook breakfast! Did you say to put it in the microwave for one minute?

I tend to stay away from microwave cooking as I find it changes the taste and consistency of food, but I really like the idea!

Ah you may have a point there. I was raised that the microwave was bad for a person's health... lucky I only tend to cook eggs (and popcorn) and heat left overs with it...

I just pop the eggs into a microwavable container and I'm set.

I love scrambled and poached eggs but I'm not keen on frying eggs in a pan either. I always seem to end up with them really crisp underneath but still slimy on top. The Eggtastic sounds like an interesting device (shame about the stuck on eggs! Can't believe the previous owner left it in such a state!) But still a good bargain for $3
