A Lot of Drunk Monarch Butterflies

Yesterday I mentioned all of the butterflies that we have been noticing since moving here. I think that I just might have found out why. Darling daughter has been trying to brew her own apple cider... the hard stuff lol and after pressing the apples for the juice, she takes the left over apples out deposits them close to the tree line. We often walk by the area and would notice that there were always lots of butterflies seeming to "eat" the apples. Then we suddenly got a whiff of what was happening. The apples were fermenting. That was what was attracting all of the Monarch Butterflies... who knew lol!

The monarch butterflies must be so beautiful to look at . Yes, they could be attracted to the fermenting apples . But i suppose they don't eat those fermenting apples ?

Never heard of butterflies to eat fruit .That is weird.Maybe it was something else there on the apples?

Nope... just the left overs of the apples that darling daughter didn't need anymore. I really think that it was the fermentation that attracted them... they were just slurping up the juices! ;)
