Are Humans Less Fearful Today?

Do you think knowng more about science and the make up of the Universe has made humans less fearful? There was a time when humans thought the Gods caused weather, and hardship, etc. They had rituals to attempt to stave off these situations. They spent time trying to appease the God's. They had the satisfaction of trying to do something about their plight.
Do you think stark reality makes people more or less fearful?

No, I do not think people are less fearful today. People tend to be more fearful today than ever.
