Dogs Galore

Can you imagine keeping 68 dogs on your property and in your home? Neither can I. I read in the paper today that authorities have rescued 68 dogs from dog hoarders on Butts Mill road. They found all sizes and breeds. From largest to smallest. Dogs were in kennels inside the fenced yard. More dogs were inside the house. The Marshal couldn't get in the front fenced in area of the home due to aggressive dogs. But found the back door open and more dogs in the house. The owner was arrested. Some of the dogs are ready for adoption and traps are set to catch those that got away. If anyone wants a dog, 23 dogs went to the Atlanta Humane Society and the Lagrange Humane Society has about the same number. All sizes and breeds available.

How sad. Even if the person had the best of intentions...

@msiduri You wouldn't think anyone would want to have ill, starving dogs all around them.

I think it must be a mental problem. Anyone should know they cant care for so many animals.

@Hatley it sounds like they were not mentally competent. They need help.

mercy, that person needs some serious help :( i hope that all the pups were able to find suitable homes. sadly, that critter hoardin' starts off innocently 'nough, then tends to get outta hand. ya know, they think they're helpin' - jest 's those who do the same with cats...

@RubyHawk i believe hoardin' - be 't critters 'r "schtuff" 'tis a mental condition. 'f course those that suffer from such'll most likely ne'er face that reality :(

I think they do intend to help and it gets out of hand, but looks like when they see the poor dogs are sick and starving they would try to get help for the dogs. I wonder too, if it might be something mentally wrong.

@crazyhorseladycx I think it's a mental condition too, I've seen animal hoarders on TV and those poor animals and the homes they are found in are unbelievable.

How crazy to hoard these helpless animals. I hope they are adopted.

Yes, many people do go to the humane society to adopt dogs, I hope these are lucky, but they were not in good shape, so I don't know.

I'm afraid they will be lucky if more than a few dogs find homes.

After we had our last two old sick dogs put down, that's what we said, no more.

When I reported for the Examiner site as one of the Dog News people, there was always something like this happening somewhere. Awful. Most meant to do well and things get out of hand. BUT-some are just greedy and breeding dogs for money.

I don't know how this woman got so many dogs, the article didn't explain. I can't believe she found this many lost digs. Maybe a few and they kept breeding.

I hope that 'owner' gets some serious time and not just a slap on the hand @RubyHawk .

I don't expect they will be punished, maybe a fine, just a slap on the wrist.

@just4him I hope so, but mostly some will have to be put down. I can only imagine the shape they were in.

I cannot imagine that many dogs in a yard and in the home. I wouldn't want to see the house. The article said the scent was terrible.
