1985 Virago Press – Spoiler Alerts An action packed and ultimately tragic tale. After a series of Moll Flanders style adventures, a prostitute is caught and sentenced to a slave plantation, but she escapes soon after arriving and joins a remote but seemingly friendly tribe of Native Americans. She is with them when the American colonials massacre the tribe who curse her for bringing their bad fortune on them as they all perish. Bitter and acidic attack on those who brutalize women and non-Caucasian peoples, but brilliantly written. Arthur Chappell
