For those who experienced Martial Law in the Philippines can you please share your story that happened during that regime? Were you dragged or your family and some acquaintances in horrible situation of the Martial Law especially under the Military group of people? If you experienced the Martial Law then does it have an impact to you emotionally and mentally until now? How were you able to recover? I wasn’t born yet during the time of Martial Law although my Mom and family has horrible experience but good thing it was not horrible as we are hearing to other people on TV and social medias, or to the extent that their experiences became too abusive. My mom captured by Militars when they cannot find her brother which is my Uncle since he is the real person that they are looking for. When my mom woke up she was surprised that Military group of people were already inside her bedroom and capturing her together with her mother which is my grandmother and her uncle. They stayed in Camp Crame for one week until they already found my Uncle. I just don’t know what happened next. This was happened by the time that she was still single. Another story This is the experience of my family where my mother is involved again but this time she is with my father and my older brother when he was still a baby. Although they are not directly involved but then it is because of our neighbor. The military group went to our neighbor’s house and looking for someone they want. As for the hearsay we have a neighbor who owns mining somewhere in Bicol but we are not sure of it. Then as what my mom told me the military men asked all of my family to get out of the house first. My family thought they would fire guns. My mom told me that there were international news that they were even viewed on air.

Those stories were true, because many friends had experienced it, and many were killed or jailed or tortured for going against the Martial rule during that time.

I am wondering to the millenials now that how come they don't understand what martial law is but instead they thought it was just strict discipline. I mean I wasn't born yet and can understand what happened to the martial law and how horrible it was. When I was a kid my mother never told me of what happened to her but just recently. Ever since I was a kid I understand that Martial Law is horrible and there were many people who were dragged into abusive situation.

@Metatronik it was because the books being issued by Dept. of Education did not tackle about the abuses committed during those times; it is good the new administration (DepEd) is going to revise the history books so the millenials will know what really happened during those times.
