What Is A Free Library??

We get the cutest little newspaper in our mailbox each Wednesday. For such a little newspaper, it's always full of stories that actually interest us! Darling daughter came to me this morning and asked... "what is a free library? Aren't they all free?"
I had seen this in past newspapers, but never stopped to think about it. Just way too much work to do around here lol! So, I'm asking you guys. We have a library that we have now joined and it is surprisingly full of really good books, but this "free one" seems to be four our little area. And it boast 6000 books. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I know there are some libraries in a county away from me that has a yearly membership fees. Here at our public library things are free to borrow unless you are from out of town then you have to pay member fees as well to use the library.

Nope that isn't it either. This one is supposed to be even closer than the one that I do belong to. Guess that I'm just going to have to pay them a visit!!
