Today marks the last day of September and I have noticed many writers here this afternoon almost like a SALE at the local store - a race to get the specials. Well if you dont have the 5$, you will not make the cut so I urge you all to read, like, respond, write, banter, converse, whatever might get you there . . just do it! Featuring a copy of the two lovely "Fire of London 1666" stamp collection that arrived via Postcards from a friend in the UK - AKA Koalemos which name I only found out today means, "KOALEMOS (Coalemus) was the personified spirit (daimon) of stupidity and foolishness." GREEK mythology. London Burning stamps revealed a Name that I am quite familiar with - Paternoster . . . In London the famous Paternoster Square is an urban development, next to St Paul's Cathedral in the City. The area, which takes its name from Paternoster Row, centre of the London publishing trade, was devastated by aerial bombardment in The Blitz during World War II. It is now the location of the London Stock Exchange since 2004. A very romantic notion that it has the following meaning: "Pater noster is Latin for "Our Father", the incipit of the Lord's Prayer. The Square lies near the top of Ludgate Hill, the highest part of the City of London." In South Africa . . . " Paternoster is a sought after tourist destination and is known for lobster and the white-washed fishermen’s cottages. The remarkable coastline of jagged cliffs and white boulders makes this one of the most beautiful beaches on the West Coast of South Africa. The origin of the name remains unknown. Many people believe that the name, which means ‘Our Father’ in Latin, refers to prayers said by Catholic Portuguese seamen when they became shipwrecked" So both places seem to have a very prominent History. Have you ever come across a Paternoster in your vicinity?

The Great Fire of London has been accredited with playing a major part in the elimination of the plague by destroying vast slum areas where the infection could breed. As for Koalemos, I have been a follower of the teachings of the Greek God Koalemos all of my life.

I always thought that a Paternoster was a kind of lift having its origins in UK. I never saw one though. The name comes from a kind of chaplet called "patenôtre" in French. I guess you want to pray each time you are in a Paternoster lift.
