50th Birthday Party

1/1/17 - I will be 50 years old and I feel great. I want to throw myself a birthday party but I want to do it on my actual birthday. However you can see that day is New Years Day and most of my friends and family will most likely be hungover and may not attend my party. I don't want to spend a lot of money on food and only half of the people show up. I have been to too many functions where only half the expected guests show up. I'm not sure which is worst half the guest show up or too many guests show up. I think I like too many guest show up, because you can always improvise on the menu or should I say you can stretch the menu....Lol Not sure if I want to take a chance and throw this party. I could have it on 1/7/17 which is six days later and on a Saturday, but it's so cool to have it on my actual birthday, New Years Eve is Saturday and New Years Day is on Sunday. I would plan to have it early evening like 5 or 6 pm and be done by 8pm and 9pm the latest. This would be done for those who would have to go to work that Monday morning 1/2/17. What do you think 1/1/17 or 1/7/17?

Well if I were you I would have the party on New Years Eve. I love New Years eve and thing it is a great party night. That way you can kill two birds with one stone. That's just my opinion.

If you wanted more people to attend, you can have it later on 1/7/17, considering people are too busy with their family celebrations on New Year's day.

Welcome to the golden age friend. I think it would be wonderful to have your celebration on your actual birthday. It's a new year and a new start of another milestone in your life. Reaching age 50 is something to be thankful for.

I'm with you. I think it is much safer to have it on the 7th for more people showing up. That said, maybe you could do something small, go out to eat, etc... on your actual birthday with a few close friends, leaving the big party until the 7th. YOu could celebrate twice. Happy birthday!

I think that I would go for your actual birthday. What a great day to have been born on. A continuation of the night before would be awesome. New year's eve lol. Make it last like 72 hours with your birthday party at the centre. I would if I had been born on that great day. You only have a 50th birthday once.

Plan it on your actual birthday seems best for a milestone age. I turned 50 this past April. We (my mom and my children, and grandchildren) met up in my middle daughters little town as my birthday was on a Sunday, the only day their little town's museum is open. It was my wish for the whole family to go over and enjoy the day and all we could see and learn.

if you plan it on 1/1/17...you might have to book the place now...places might not be available for a long time...but if you would like it to be a little more relaxed... 1/7/17 might be a better option.
