Jeff Fletcher reports the news on Friday Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia has announced the news his plans to shut down his designated hitter Albert Pujols for the remainder of the current baseball season. Since the Angels are not going to be playing in the postseason this year, it is wise of them to sit down Pujols who is 36 years of age who has battling a foot injury that has affected his play on the field this year. The Angels will be hosting the Houston Astros in the final three games of the current baseball season. Since the Astros are not likely to make it to the playoffs this year either Scioscia does not want his star player to be playing in meaningless games this weekend. Pujols will take the time to rest and be ready for Spring Training in 2017.

I guess I feel a bit sorry as Pujols was having a great stat year and I enjoyed his piling them up as he is closing in on 600 homers and 3000 hits. But he has been not 100 percent for quite some time so it makes sense to shut him down for the last 3 games.
