Do You Know How to Prevent Oil Splatter When Frying?

I hate it when frying milkfish or any other fish because of the hot oil splattering sometimes it reaches my face. It hurts, and sometimes leaves a reddish or brownish mark on the skin. Sometimes I just cover the pan with a large pot cover, but when I turn the fish to cook the other side, there the splattering go on again. Are you cooking and do you experience this too?

Oh yes , the last time i fried marinated milkfish , it nearly hit my eyes . From then on , i would refuse to fry if it is a milkfish . And if ever i fry something , i make sure i have my reading glasses on.

Just make sure the milkfish is not very wet when you put it in the frying fan. Coating it with flour will also help.

Yes, coating it with flour helps; this is one of the tips told me by the fish vendor.

Hols a splatter screen between you and the frying pan.

I either lower the flame or take the pan off the burner. I rarely fry, but I have gotten splatter when I sauté.

Yes, I have also experienced this and the least thing I can do is to lower the heat. Other than this method I have no other known solution for this problem.

I do that also specially when frying bangus (milkfish) with scales removed. It splatters so much!

@acelawrites or maybe you can add more oil rather than just using the minimal amount of oil.

You can get fine mesh 'splatter guards' which cover the pan.

I use the wok or frying pan cover as some sort of a shield, put it inside then cover.

i always cover the pan and cook in medium heat and wait until it's no longer 'noisy' before i uncover to turn the fish with the tongs. i suck at using the spatula. but it still happens sometimes.

Yes, it could do the trick, but sometimes there are kinds of fish that are hard to fry.

It is really annoying; I'd rather have it cooked in vinegar or stewed or broiled.

We cover it, at least when it comes to frying fish.

Yes, I also experienced that not until husband told me to lower the heat when I turn the fish to minimize the oil splatter or I take the frying pan away from the stove when I turn the fish.
