The Staten Island Ferry Disaster

Just read this story online about the Staten Island ferry that was sunk by a giant octopus the day that JFK was killed. There's a website, physical memorial and a documentary about it. Only thing is it's actually a rather complex hoax. Just in case you are having doubts about how plausible it is.
NEW YORK (AP) — Ever hear about the gargantuan octopus that dragged a New York City ferry and its 400 passengers to the river bottom nearly 53 years ago?

I don't think one has ever dragged down a big ship outside the movies.

Even if it did, I can't see one being big enough to take down a ferry.
