Why do people break things just for the sake of it?

Today morning I found that someone has scratched the whole right side of my car. It's a deep scratch made by hand all along the side. I wonder why people just do this? They are not earning anything from this (unless they are in the car painting business, LOL).

Because nice things bring out the worst in some people.Or because they take out their frustration at their lack of success in the world on the nearest inanimate object.

I would vote for frustration. When we had a vignette, i.e. a yearly tax on cars, one year the state decided to tax differently company cars, so they had a different vignette. It lasted only one year : all these cars were victims of vandalism.

@topffer So, the vandals were basically envious of people with jobs who drove company cars?

@ourlot They were jealous of people having their car paid by their company. A service car has the name of the company on it, a company car is like any other car, but with this special tax it was easy to recognize them.
