This past Saturday I attended a local wrestling promotions show, Desert Wrestling Entertainment. It was the first time I have seen this promotion and I was impressed with the quality of the talent. The majority of the talent is local and train localy. The show was titled,"Saturday Night Slam". Lots of move sets that I am used to seeing from Lucha Libre style wrestling, from the top rope moves, flying through or over the ropes to the outside and the counters to counter holds. There were even a couple of moments where the crowd chanted," HOLY $H!T ! HOLY $H!T !."Also a time when an older gentleman wanted to get into the ring and get himself a piece of a wrestler. (I think he was a "plant".) This is typical, theres always an older person who wants to fight a wrestler. My gf and the two kids we took along had a great time. Especially the kids, they did the whole yelling and name calling to the wrestlers. Since we sat next to the entrance, they were high fiving the wrestlers as they walked out and in. Afterwards, they even went up to the same wrestlers they were name calling and booing to ask for their autographs. Wrestlers were very friendly and posed for pictures with the fans. I hope they continue to put on shows. More so because its a local promotion and I like to support the indie wrestling scene by buying a ticket and if possible a t-shirt.
