We're getting close. It's time for #2 in my Favorite Acid Jazz Bands series, and that designation belongs to England's The Quiet Boys. The Quiet Boys were led by producer Chris Bangs, the man credited with coining the term "acid jazz," a tongue in cheek stab at the acid house scene. It stuck. They were, in a way, the house band for the Acid Jazz label. Their names (particularly trumpeter Dave Priseman) appeared in the credits of numerous Acid Jazz releases. The group only released a couple albums, although they did pop up on quite a few of Acid Jazz's excellent This is Acid Jazz compilation series. Eventually, Chris Bangs began recording as Mr. Electric Triangle, and I haven't seen a new Quiet Boys release since the 1990's. And they have no Wikipedia page. I've linked to their song "Righteous," the leadoff track from their album Bosh! If you dig Wes Montgomery-style guitar and a groovy beat, you might just enjoy this. It might just be the grooviest song you hear all day.

I beg to differ. They are by no means "Quiet" boys!

They should have called themselves "Groovy" Boys.

I am thinking the Quiet Boys are anything but!
