Lice once again.

It was another one of those weekends where all I wanted to do was scream, my step daughter was over again, and she yet again had a head lice infestation. She's infested at least once a month. While I do know that it has nothing to do with the cleanliness of someone's house and that they are quite difficult to get rid of, it's just tiring and costly for us to keep treating her and having her go right back to her mom, and her siblings at her mom's who aren't treated (at least I don't think so). What bothered me was when she had them a few months ago and her mom said she knew she had them and didn't do anything about it. The school my step daughter goes to was able to treat her at school instead. We spent already $30 on the lice spray and shampoo, and I have to go make my peppermint, and tea tree essential oil blend to spray on everything. It's so exhausting to keep treating myself and my husband every time she leaves as well. I love my step daughter, don't get me wrong, but she shouldn't keep having this happen. My husband did report the lice problem to CPS (I'm sure they'll do nothing or they might knowing that there was a problem with cleanliness at her mom's apartment before).

That is awful and even worse if you are treating it just so she can go home and get it again. Maybe the other parent isn't cleaning everything thoroughly so it keeps returning.

I don't know. We're not really allowed to go to her place, so we're not sure.

@polyxena Oh wow that is crazy! I wouldn't allow my kids somewhere I couldn't go look at. That has to be a tough situation for you guys.

@farbuoloxusy Well her mom's just weird. Putting it nicely she got weird after my husband had offered to clean her place which was deplorable more times than once, and since she's with whoever she's with now she doesn't want anyone around the place, and the only we were over there, it was nasty. So my husband reported her and she got all upset over it.

This is the season for lice--and unfortunately, most kids get lice at some point or another just because of the proximity--but unless they are treated, children can't return to school--I hope this passes soon for you!

They allow her to go back since the principal or nurse treated her the last few times for her mom. I just don't think her siblings are being treated.

I wonder how lice infest and how to get rid of them.
