Been saving since I was 5 years old. I just spend money on needs. No wants for me. Whenever I receive my salary, I immediately deposit it in my savings account, what's left is the only amount intended for my expenses for the month. As to my online earnings, I deposit all of them in the bank. I don't go out unless I need to buy my needs or go to work. Staying at home saves me from spending money.

I save through my 401 k. I do put money aside for vacations and it's really hard at times not to touch it. I just tell myself that if you touch it you will have to watch every cent when your on vacation. I like to have fun on vacation and not have to worry about the money aspect of it, with in reason. I either put the money into savings or I hide it at home. At home works better for me, it isn't visible to me when balancing the bank accounts. Everyone has a different way of saving and saving for most is difficult. One reason is people have little to save to begin with. Another thing that helps me is I have a 5 gallon water jug that I dump change into. Change isn't something that most of us miss, we don't count it into our budget. I cash it in around $200 to $300. Set a small goal and work towards that, something that is achievable, say in 6 months I want to have $125. When you can accomplish that it makes for an easier transition to larger amounts. Good luck with your saving money.

To save you need to have enough money to live and then have some left over. I don't.
