Expectation is the reason for many Disappointments. We all do expect many things. Mostly from others. Not only tangible things,,, it may be love, care, friendship, etc.....
But if they were unable to fulfill our needs we get disappointed, then we get angry...then it cause many problems.
I think we all should be Independent, Depending on others and cause problems. The more we expect, more disappointments we get... It may be your spouse, parents, siblings, friends, children, your employer, etc.... Don't expect anything, Just accept what you get and be happy with what you have. And if you are not satisfied, try to gain it by your self, don't depend on others....
This is what I believe and this is what life taught me so far.........
So................
"Don't blame others for Disappointing you,
Blame your self for Expecting too much...."

Nicely elaborated on your thought or belief on what you've learnt through life. Although I have a different perspective here - expectations are no the reason for our dissapointments. Human mind is not limited, our mind wonder too much anywhere and everywhere. One of the mind's play is regarding 'expectations'. We expect respect, acceptance, love, care, so on and so forth(the basic expectations)
But we even tend to forget the reality when we tend to expect. Expectation, according to me, should be highly based on reality and real life incidences. Someone who doesn't even know us(eg of crush) naturally CANNOT love us!
Someone who have always been a critical, won't turn and be accepting of who we are.
If we are successful at making reality the base for our expectations, then we would be less hurt.
Eg. If someone have always respected me, I can expect that this person would respect me even today! (Not FOREVER.. But assurance is only on TODAY)

That's a good point. While we need a little expectation so we know when things are going wrong, it's very easy to have too much and become disappointed too easily. Better to take life as it comes.
