Michael Gehlken reports the news on Wednesday San Diego Chargers defensive back Jason Verrett will have surgery to repair a partial tear of his ACL. San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said on Wednesday that Verrett did not appear to have been injured during the Chargers 35-34 loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. The loss of Verrett for the rest of the current football season is a harsh blow to the Chargers (1-3) to make a playoff run in 2016 with 12 games remaining on the regular season schedule. Brandon Flowers and Casey Heyward will be the remaining starting cornerbacks of the Chargers for the time being. The Chargers will likely be looking for a replacement player for Verrett via the free agent, trade market or from their practice team.

It takes a long time to recover from a torn ACL. This could kill his career.

It is a shame that Verrett could have a short career in the National Football League due to injuries,
