1945 – Egmont Press – Spoiler alerts. Herge’s 6th complete Tin-Tin adventure, with cameos for the bungling Thompson Twin detectives, but before the introduction of Captain Haddock. Tin-Tin investigates the theft of a South American fetish statue from a Parisian museum. His investigation involves forgeries, a talking parrot, deadly but incompetent assassins and a revolution. A thrill ride story with chases to rival any Indiana Jones movie and a plot reminiscent of The Maltese Falcon. I particularly like the scenes of Tin-Tin facing a firing squad as the regime frequently changes round him confusing the army so much that Tin-Tin finds himself promoted to their Colonel. Snowey gets a fair bit to do too and there are neat plot twists and complications throughout. Arthur Chappell

There seems to be a fascination for Tin Tin everywhere but the US. The Spielberg movie didn't set the world on fire.

@JohnRoberts I enjoyed the Tin-Tin movie - though flawed it was highly entertaining
