Jeremy Bergman reports the news on Saturday Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton has been ruled out of playing football on Monday Night Football versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Newton suffered a concussion injury last Sunday during the Panthers 48-33 loss to the Atlanta Falcons which caused him to miss practice team this week since he is still on the National Football League concussion protocol.
The Panthers (1-3) are currently tied for last place in the National Football Conference South Division with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints.
The Falcons (3-1) are the division leaders as of football games played after the end of Week Four.
Joe Webb will be the backup quarterback of the Panthers behind Anderson during the football game at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte North Carolina.
Newton can resume his duties as the starting quarterback of the Panthers when he gets clearance from officials of the National Football League. When he gets the clearance remains unclear at this time.
