Minnesota Vikings place Andre Smith on the injured reserved list

Matt Vensel reports the news on Monday the Minnesota Vikings who are the only unbeaten team in the National Football League have placed their right tackle Andre Smith on the injured reserved list with a triceps injury that will require surgery on Tuesday. Jeremiah Sirles will replace Smith on the Vikings offensive line for the time being. Smith will not be playing in any more regular season football games for the remainder of the 2016 football season. Cameron DaSilva reports current free agent Jake Long who has played football for the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams and Atlanta Falcons worked out for the Vikings but he was not able to reach an agreement to join the Vikings. The Vikings will have a bye week in the sixth week of the 2016 football season. Their next football game will be on October 23. 2016 when the Philadelphia Eagles will host the undefeated Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

You are correct. It is a bad break for the Vikings.
