I finished the book two days ago and as is my habit once I finish the book I watch the movie to see how close they are to each other. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a book 739 pages long. As in all JK Rowling's books, it was quite detailed, full of action on every page, and left me on the edge of my seat to the end. This last book in the series is the final battle of good vs. evil between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. In his search for Horcruxes Harry learns that the last Horcrux is inside him, gotten there when Lord Voldemort killed his parents and he became the boy who lived. After having read the book then watching the movie - Part 1 yesterday and Part 2 today, I found the book and movie were very closely related. Details that I didn't understand without reading the book made a lot more sense afterwards. If you have not read either the books or watched the movies, I do recommend the series. The books are much more detailed than the movies in 1-6. However, Book and movie 7 are right on. It was a pleasure to read the books and get all the missing details the movie didn't show. For those of you who think the series is bad for Christians, it's really not. The series is about friendship, loyalty, good vs. evil, bullying and a whole host of other things your children face in school on a daily basis. It's much more than witches and wizards. It attacks good vs. evil on a different level and makes it fun. JK Rowling is an excellent author and deserves all the awards she received for this book and movie series. I give this book and the movie 5 stars as I have given all the books in the series. Thanks for reading.

I couldn't help but read this post...since i am what we call Potterheads . Completely obsessed with the series...mostly because we grew up with it. I agree..the last 2 sets of movies were better detailed than the others. Are you planing to read the new book that came out a few months ago? It is actually a Play...and since most of it is dialogue...it finishes fast. They aren't planing to make a movie out of this one. Also, there are mixed reviews.

The movies are great. The books make everything in the movies more understandable. The books have so much more depth to them. I'm sure you would love them if you love the movies.

@just4him I agree that books add more depth and understanding of things we couldn't understand merely watching and vice versa is true too. I think I have ebooks of the series somewhere in my folder. Maybe it's time I finally read the book series. I have been putting it off for a while.

I am quite fine without the Christian connection :) In the series, sometimes I watched the movie first but mostly it was the other way around. Novels are good, movies have a lot of other things besides the story-play (actual word just escaped my mind!).

I've watched the movies a couple times before, but this is the first time I've read the books and then watched the movie as I finished the book. It made it more interesting.

I always agreed, it really is good against evil, bad against good, the virtues of being a real friend, greed, all sorts of the human condition, and treated in a growing up learning how to stand for whats right sort of thing

I love Harry Potter Books. I have read some of them and have seen some of the movies, too. Seeing the movies made me understand what I haven't understood in the book. Great review. Well done!

Thank you. Now I need to get my own set of the books. They belong to my son. I'd like to read them again, they are so good.
