Do weight loss apps really help people

I have been hearing different opinions about weight loss and calories tracking apps. I have used a few and i am just not motivated in using them as i could be exercising instead of writing my fitness goals for today or typing in what foods i ate. I have used the apps that count how much steps you walked. I have tried a few of these and they seem to crash and i have lost motivation in using them. They were very good for a while and i really enjoyed using them, but now i don't. How much apps do you have to track your weight or count your steps and is it helpful for you?

I don't need an app to lose weight. I just need to religiously do some exercises and eat balanced diet.

@Shavkat Whatever works for you, people get motivated by apps and some people use apps to keep a record. Whatever works for you.

@jennyjoy I think it is fine to do this conventional way of lessening one's weight.

No apps at all. Just go with the old ways of running, jogging, doing simple exercises whenever you can. Eat what you want but within limits. You will lose weight.

@jennyjoy I have to agree with you. Do you reckon people use apps to motivate themselves in any sort of way?

@IlijaMarkovski Is it about the self motivation or more about wanting to follow the latest fad,so that they don't feel left out.

@jennyjoy I think people do it motivation. For example I have to reach 10,000 steps everyday.

@amitkokiladitya yes i think most people get lazy to write in what foods they ate, how much calories each food had and all the rest of it. If you exercise and eat well, then you don't need any apps.
