Do celebrities get away with more crime than non-celebrities?

I have always wanted to know why on earth is it different for a celebrity who abused a security guard gets away with a warning or nothing at all and then when a non-celebrity commits the same crime gets time in jail. What's the reasoning behind this? Is it money. Do the celebrities make a deal behind the scenes or is there more to it. It seems like every time a celebrity commits whatever crime, they get away with it or get a really low sentence for a serious crime. Does anyone know what the reasoning is? Please express your opinions.

Money. It's all about money with the legal system sadly.

@Daniegirl80887 I think you are right or some kind of compensation so then the celebrities criminal charges get dismissed.

Alec Baldwin was acquitted for assault when there was photographic proof. Sean Penn spent time in a country club facility for assault and disturbing behavior while a regular person would face real jail time or psychiatric facility.

@JohnRoberts Yes it happens everyday that non-celebrities are not treated fairly, as celebrities will get away with pretty much everything.
