Worshipping Celebrities

Why do we worship celebrities? Some worship them to the point of hysteria.

I really have no clue why some people worship celebrities. The only thing I can think of would have to be the all the fame and money. I do like some celebrities but it has to do with their work ability. Not how they choose to live their life.
