Can terrorism be contained?

Gandhi said: "A eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." He proposed that the sinner be made to feel regret for the wrong deeds by being shown a better path. Jesus Christ said something in the same vein: "When someone slaps you, show him your other cheek." So does non violence work against all voilence? What about terrorism? Is counter terrorism the answer?

No it cannot be contained because it is a profession now, it would have been easier to handle if it was ideological problem.

Thats true. Mercenaries have joined the ranks of terrorists. But many terrorists martyr themselves..... cannot be only for money. There may be ideological reasons associated too.

The wounded snake went to the saint complaining about the I'll treatment. The saint said will fill sympathy: You stopped biting it a true, but why did you stop hissng?

@Daljinder, my teacher had a nice response to such a statement: "I would not allow him to slap my cheek in the first place." :)

Chanakya's theory says that you employ different strategies beginning with soft assertion and ending with tough aggressiveness where called for. My hand is extended in friendship but can become a fist of fury if required.
