I only have two songs left on my list of favorite "girl" songs....then I suppose we move to "boy" songs so as not to be considered sexist. @teamfreak16 started this series, and kudos to him for doing so! Here's my next song. #2: Blue Kentucky Girl - Loretta Lynn As the song plays in the background on You Tube, I have goosebumps. What a song. Loretta Lynn, who's from Kentucky, actually did not write this song. But let's face it: it's her song. If you doubt me, listen to her version, then listen to that lifeless Emmylou Harris cover. That's part of the greatness of Loretta: there are a lot of her hits that she didn't write (Shel Silverstein, for instance, wrote "One's On the Way" [originally titled "Here in Topeka"]), but she dang sure made them her own (such as her comment at the end of "One's On the Way," "Oh, yeah, I hope it ain't twins again," referencing the fact that she had already had a set of twins). In the live version linked below, from the old The Wilburn Brothers TV show (where she was the featured "girl singer"), you see her pour emotion into the song as if she were living it. (You also get to see Teddy Wilburn introduce her and the great Harold Morrison on banjo [he played banjo on the recorded version, too].) Pay close attention. This is how a song should be sung. Loretta performs "her favorite" of all her recorded songs (at the time, at least). Written by Johnny Mullins. Loretta, the coal miner's daughter, is famously...

Loretta is the real deal (take note those who think Taylor is "country") and does her mentor Patsy proud.

@FourWalls - I was thinking and came up with ten. But if there are enough guy songs, why not? "Don't Call Me Dude" is one I'd use for sure.
